  1. According to the home office, women are consistently treated more lenient by the law. Women first time offenders are about half as likely to be given a sentence of immediate imprisonment as male first time offenders.

Kalven (1966) suggests that there is a ‘chivalry factor’ which encourages judges and courts to be more lenient to women. In Britain NACRO has commented that a number of special factors influence magistrates and judges in their approach to sentencing women. In particular, factors such as exclusive responsibility of running the home and caring for dependants, or the fact the offender may be pregnant.

  2. If a married couple commit a crime, it is always the husband who shoulders the majority blame. Why? Because historically it is the husband who is responsible for the actions of his wife. The husband traditionally "owns" his wife.

Don't get fret up by this answer. I'm not being sexist here - it's fact.

  3. because men believe women are more fragile and cant tolerate any kind of pain. even though women can handle pain better than men. remember that the  criminal justice system is pretty much run by men.

  4. Because most Judges are men

  5. becaus women are more mature and wont go out and do the same thing again
