Why is the dark knight (batman movie) so scary. i want to see it but i want to kknow what im seeing 1st?

Its not scary. It paints a fairly dark picture and there are a lot of "on the edge of your seat" moments.

The movie is not scary. Yet it is not for children. Not because of anything particularly gory, but more because of the psychological portion of it. Christopher Nolan doesn't portray the characters as fictional as we are used to, but delves into the possibility of these characters existing in our world today. For example, instead of just painting the Joker as a crazy clown with nothing better to do than corrupt the city of Gotham, Heath Ledger plays a truly disturbed and psychotic mind that gets no enjoyment out of material things, such as money, but gets his kicks out of wreaking havoc and "introducing a little anarchy." There are so many quotes I could use to further explain this but I don't want to ruin it for you. You should definitely watch it without a worry..it's not scary at all. You have my word.

there's just a couple of spots where you jump, that's it. It's just a very well thought out movie and it's very entertaining.

Trust me its not scary.. Lots of actions, politics, adventure.... You'll discover what you were'nt expected... Nice display... New invention... The real play of his greatest villian, The Joker... The best & great batman movie ever, if you've ever watch any...

The make up may look scary but what would you expect? Handsome villian?

it is no scary !! but sometimes you get freaked out when the booms are there and it is kind of funny when the joker comes and some times freaky so i say watch it....... it is a nice movie !

it wasn't scary at all to me, but in a movie theatre, some of the sound effects make you jump, especially when the Joker comes in. he is the absolute COOLEST character :D the Batman isn't even better than him, lol

ITS NOT THAT SCARY, THE JOKER MAY BE A LITTLE, BUT THAT'S JUST HIS CHARACTER, OTHER THAN THAT ITS A GREAT MOVIE TO WATCH. ONE OF MY FAVORITES ACTUALLY AND ITS THE BEST PORTRAYAL OF BATMAN AND THE JOKER. YOU HAVE TO SEE IT, IF NOT JUST RENT IT WHEN IT COMES OUT.

I wouldn't call it scary; it's just extremely dark because--as far as my experience goes--the new Batman movies are the most realistic comic book movies I've ever seen.  The first one was just tip of the ice berg--Batman's beginnings, but The Dark Knight features some villains that seem like they actually could exist.

We've seen real serial killers like the Joker before.  Sociopaths that have destroyed just to destroy.

It's a wonderful movie, though.  Christopher Nolan (director) set out to make his audience forget that the Batman comics were ever campy at all by making this the most honest, gritty action movie I've seen in a while.
