Why is the dollar currently weak against other currencies?

The pound in particular. What caused this situation? Just out of interest. Thanks.

  1. Because the US is spending too much money.  Part of the weak dollar is the war, the weather disasters in America, where money was spent and was not planned for.  The government keeps printing billions of dollars to pay for all these things, but it hasn't paid it back.  Anyway that is what I heard on the news.  I am sure there is more to it, but at least you have some idea why.


  2. There's simply not enough demand for the currency at the present time. Infact, the dollar is weak because it is so weak. Let me clarify that. If the dollar is a weak currency, savers will not want to hold on to it, as it will not bring a higher rate of return as holding other currencies such as the GBP, Euro, etc would.

  3. More dollars printed than demanded relative to the Pound
