Why is the earth stratified ? i need the answer bad ?

  1. There are a few reasons. Speaking in large terms, it has to do with gravity and plate tectonics. As well as with different geological processes that occur within the earth. In the smaller scale (without penetrating deep into the crust) we can see patterns of erosion and deposition thus creating layers upon older layers.


  2. During its early formation, the heavier elements of Earth tended to sink deeper than lighter elements, thus the stratification of the planet -- heavier elements deeper towards the center than the lighter elements.

  3. Gravity is the largest aspect of stratification.  That, coupled with elements with different densities & textures, produces different layers.  If the Earth was homogeneous - all made out of the same material - or, if it had a much less dense gravitational pull, layering wouldn't be produced at all.
