We got stuck while evacuating from Hurricane Katrina, and we went through it all in our car. I remember being in the eye of the storm. The skys were clear (although they weren't blue and it wasn't sunny), and there were no winds or rain. It was really calm and peaceful.

Anyways, why is it like that? And is it safe to be in the eye of a storm?

  1. I think is pretty safe. ( According to the Magic School Bus )

  2. Over the eye of a hurricane, the air sinks and almost exhibits the charecteristic features of a high pressure area.Over any high pressure area, the wind will be light or calm.

It is safe to be over an eye of the storm but at the same time you should not forget that only half of the storm has crossed you and the other half is yet to cross you(if you remain stationary) with heavy winds blowing in the opposite direction.
