Seriously--I don't understand how Christians can claim to read passages like this and still feel that this god deserves worship:

Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.

Numbers 31:15-17

And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.

Leviticus 26:29

And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters.

Deuteronomy 28:53

And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them.

Deuteronomy 28:57

Thus saith the LORD of hosts ... Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and as$.

1 Samuel 15:2-3

Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.

Psalms 137:9

Yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb.

Hosea 9:16

Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.

Hosea 13:16

Because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.

2 Samuel 12:14

"And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend in the siege and straitness, wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their lives, shall straiten them."

Jeremiah 19:9

And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

2 Kings 2:23-24

What can babies and children possibly do to deserve being slaughtered?

And don't say that this is being taken "out of context"; I assure you that it is not.

  1. He also seemed to be a big fan of rape, and slavery.

  2. "What can babies and children possibly do to deserve being slaughtered?"

Just being conceived is enough these days.

  3. "And don't say that this is being taken "out of context"; I assure you that it is not."

actually they are as God says why he is doing that in verses around those....

  4. I was just wondering how Christians and Jews are able to read passages like this and just completely disregard them. I genuinely don't understand.

  5. For the same reason that Captain Ahab was obsessed with Moby d**k.  That is just the way the authors wrote their work of fiction.

  6. 9 " 'If anyone curses his father or mother, he must be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother, and his blood will be on his own head. Lev 20:9

When is God commanding the death of insubordinate children "in context?"  He said it at one point, and that's that.

  7. It IS being taken out of context and grossly misquoted. Prime example Psalms 137:9...  Go read it for yourself everyone... don't take his word for it. Read all of Psalms 137, it's only 9 verses long and you'll see what I mean.
