  1. I dont know, All i do know is that I got my $600! Woo Hoo!

  2. Those of you who cheered about getting the tax refund--remember the reason you got it, which was:

--NOT for the good of our nation, which is $3 trillion in debt (...let me think:  $3 TRILLION at 10 per cent interest...and the US has been in debt for...how many years now? SEVEN?)  Shouldn't we be paying that debt off?

--The reason you got that refund was to make the Republican party look good right before the upcoming election--even though the Republicans had to know the refund was for the nation's greater harm.

--"NOT TRUE" some of you might argue, "That REFUND was meant to give a boost to the economy by encouraging consumer spending,"  etc. .....and, true,  in the short run it probably will do that, which makes people happy for the moment, make the current politicians look good, and buy some votes.

But in the LONG run (and not a very long run, either)--that burst of consumer spending will add to the inflationary spiral.  Soon your goods will be costing more, and that Dollar in your pocket will keep on shrinking in value.

--"Well, then," you might  think, "maybe I should go buy that new dining room furniture I want now before it goes up in cost."  That's your call--but if you do that, then don't whine to the government if/when gasoline costs go up and you've spent your $600.  Don't expect the rest of us taxpayers to support your gas needs through gov't subsidies--that's not fair to us.  Cheap gas has never been an American 'right' in the first place, any more than driving has ever been a 'right.'  Gas is a luxury and driving is a privilege.

--and before you spend your $600--remember that Social Security was NEVER designed to be a recipient's full support, it was only meant to be a subsidy.  And if you're under 40, don't expect to ever see your FICA dollars again.

Whatever you do get back, if anything, will be peanuts on today's (already shrinking) dollar.

--so if I were you, I wouldn't spend that $600 on something frivolous--I'd put it in a trustworthy investment account and save for your future.  Or for rising fuel prices.

  3. Tell that to the hundreds if not thousands that have already gotten their money.

  4. Great, I got my $2100.  How about the other $15,000 I paid in taxes for 2007?

  5. same reason there are no WMD's...pity our country land that i had onced loved

  6. they are liars

  7. The government isn't telling anyone that.  The news media is.  The government has actual calculators on the IRS website that show you what your return will be.  They deal in exact numbers.

  8. I'm getting 1200.  What's not true about it?

  9. Check out the IRS web site.  Of course not everyone gets the same amount

  10. I remember getting something in the mail saying something like George Bush, signed something about taxes.  Didn't read it all but my mom and fiance got one too from the irs.  I remember reading something like 300 if you're single and 600 if you filed jointly.  So, I'm not sure if it is true or not but if the check comes in the mail i guess so.  It also said something like checks will be sent out around May.
