In addition to their use in soft drink manufacture, kola nuts are used in tropical regions as nervous system stimulants to inhibit fatigue and hunger. They are also used in traditional African folk medicine to cure stomach ulcers, diarrhea, dysentery, and other ills. Muslims consider kola nuts to be sacred, and incorporate them in ceremonial and social occasions. When chewed, kola nuts taste bitter initially but leave a sweet, lingering aftertaste.

  1. It isn't.  It just likes to talk big.  The rest of the nuts just humor him as not to hurt its feelings.  Just go along with it.

  2. because he is going to slay the anti-kola nut

  3. cause the kola bear is a sacred beast

  4. Now for a REAL answer ...

The Kola Nut is symbolic of hospitality and is an important item of trade & commerce in many African countries.

ALSO, similar to the Chinese tradition of giving Jade, offering the Kola Nut is like 'giving a piece of your heart'

The 'sacred' nature of this plant is not unlike the sacred nature of the communion wine & bread in Christian religions.
