  1. It was constructed that way intentionally, to help develop Italy's tourism industry.  After all, who would travel that far to see a tower that wasn't leaning.  Straight buildings can be seen everywhere from Mumbai to Memphis, but a big old leaner draws crowds, especially if you're lucky enough to be there with a video camera when it comes tumbling down.

In actuality, the bedrock beneath the tower isn't, well, bedrock.  The ground on which it's built has eroded and the weight of the tower followed the subterranean hollows.  Intermediate sections of the tower were constructed asymetrically to compensate, and this helped some.  As far as I know, current efforts to stabilize the building involve the injection of new material below ground to equalize the load-bearing capacity of the entire area, but its eventual collapse is probably inevitable.  Should have kept it simple, like the Egyptians did, and taper the mass.

  6. pisa P I S A try look cover write check, they did the foundations badly

  7. Its leaning due to the poor constructing. Back then people didn't pay much attention to the dirt and laying out the right foundation to build the tower on.
