Why is the middle of the soccerfield usually wet?

At the soccer field near my high school, the center of it always seems to be wetter than the other parts. If the soccer field was wet, the center of the field would have puddles, if the soccer field was dry, the center would be wet. Also this is in Connecticut if that helps answer your question. And if you know any sources that can explain this please tell them to me.

  1. well the easiest explanation would be that maybe the ground isn't quite as level as it should be.  That could cause ponding and poor drainage.  Perhaps the center of your field has a different style of turf or grass installed, for instance, a brand of turf that is made to withstand more use, since it is in the middle of the field.  It can also have a lot to do with the structure underground, whether it has been dug into before and may have small pockets or voids which can effect drainage as well.  There really are many many different things that can keep your soccer field wet for an exceptionally long time.... hope this helps
