Why is the moon bright, it's almost like starring into a light bulb?

  1. Because the sun's rays reflect off of its surface.  And since it is relatively close to us, its surface is made of relatively highly reflective material, and there is nothing brighter around it in the night's sky, it appears very bright.


  2. All I know is, why the Moon is bright because light shines on the Moon's surface from the sun. Then, the light that's on the Moon hits Earth.

    the Moon reflects about as much light as a blackboard.

    in a dark enough room with a bright enough light, the blackboard would appear bright.
