  1. You can see the Moon in the daytime because it is big and brightly lit by the Sun. The surface of the Moon is about as reflective as an asphalt road--rather dark but not totally black. When you look at the Moon, you are seeing the light which reflects off it. This is not nearly as bright as the Sun, but it is up to 100,000 times as bright as the brightest nighttime star.

During the day, the brightness of the sky washes out the light from the stars: a region of the sky including a bright star is only very slightly brighter than a region of the sky without a bright star, so your eye cannot notice the difference. However, the region of the sky containing the Moon is much brighter, so you can see it. You can also sometimes see Venus during the day if the conditions are right and you know exactly where to look, but anything dimmer is lost. It might be useful to think of the Sun as a large light bulb, and the moon as a large mirror. There are situations where we can't see the light bulb, but we can see the light from the bulb reflected in the mirror. This is the situation when the moon is out at night. We can't see the Sun directly because the earth is blocking our view of it, but we can see its light reflected from the moon. However, there are also situations where we can see both the light bulb and the mirror, and this is what is happening when we see the moon during the day. You can explore this for yourself with a light and a hand mirror. Depending on which way you face (away from the light or sideways to the light) you can see either just the mirror, or both the light and the mirror.

  2. For us to see the moon, the moon has to reflect the sun's light towards the Earth.  But for the moon to be seen during the day, it has to be somewhere between the Earth and the sun.  BUT since we see the moon by it reflecting sunlight off of itself towards the Earth, and with the moon between the Earth and the sun, it can't reflect the sunlight towards the Earth for us to see it at that angle.

But it is possible to see a thin crescent moon, but the sun is so bright, it would overpower the faint reflected light of the moon.

But it's still possible to see the moon during the day time if for example the sun is off to the west and the moon off to the east.

  3. Because it's closer to the Sun, and it hasn't set yet. As long as the Moon isn't set and it's not cloudy, you can see the Moon at almost any time. Except when it's new and around new, of course.

  4. Because you had s*x with Neil Armstrong.

  5. The moon and the sun are not synchronized.  The moon does not circle the earth every 24 hours.... therefore the moon is up half of the time in the day.  It is just harder to see.  I believe the moon and sun are off by about 45 minutes.  Therefore the moon will rise a little earlier later each day.  This will also explain why the low and high tides shift by about 45 minutes a day.

  6. bcuz it is. there is nothing special or unusual about this.

  7. The Moon is in orbit around the Earth, and takes 29 days to complete its circle. This means that it passes the Sun in the sky once every 29 days (called New Moon) and then moves slowly away from the Sun until it's exactly opposite the Sun at Full Moon, two weeks later. At any point in these two weeks, you can see the Sun and the Moon in the sky at the same time. At Full Moon, the Moon rises in the east at exactly the same time as the Sun sets in the west, and that's the _only_ night in the whole month when the Moon is in the night sky all night long. After Full Moon, the Moon continues in its orbit, moving slowly towards the Sun on the opposite side, and again Sun and Moon can be seen at the same time in the daylight sky. After another two weeks, the Moon approaches the Sun closely, and is lost in the Sun's glare for a few days. So, basically, having both the Sun and the Moon in the sky simultaneously is the normal thing, almost every day of the month, while having the Moon only in the night sky happens only one night a month.

The Sun cannot appear in the night sky because with its appearance, it would cease to be night. The blue daytime sky is entirely caused by the light from the Sun illuminating the air molecules in the sky.

  8. Not quite the case, you can frequently see the moon and the sun together.

When the moon is full, that means that it's opposite from the sun, and it rises as the sun sets and vice versa.

When the moon is nearly empty, meaning the sun lights its other side, it's almost aligns with the sun, but then we can't see it anyways.

It's when the moon is half-full that you can see it during the day.
