No, I am not breeding my cat. I did contact a vet and at the time I was told she was quite old and to have her spayed may not help.I let her mate with one of the off spring from the same liter of cats. I was fine with her having her first liter. I am quite cable of taking care of the ones I have. People in my area want cats as well so I do give them to good homes.

  1. what kind of vet are you going to that would tell you NOT to spay a female because it would not help?? help with what?? she will never go into heat again and she will never be able to have litter upon litter of homeless unwanted kittens. Once a cat is spayed then it is a physical impossibility for it to get pregnant or go through a real heat cycle.... sheesh! check your vet's credentials and license. This is basic biology.. any 8th grader can tell you if the reproductive parts are gone then there will be no reproducing.

Get your cat spayed ASAP. you are already endangering her life.

eerr.. and you say you are not breeding her but you LET her mate?? sounds to me like you ARE breeding her. heh maybe that's not what the kids are calling it these days though.

cats can go into heat again and get pregnant even before their current litter is weaned.. (that means that the kittens are no longer nursing on the queen... mom cat)

  2. Why are you breeding your cat?  Do you know what you are going to do with the kittens?  I highly recommend you have your cat spayed as soon as possible.  Fixed cats are healthier, are less aggressive, and make better pets over all.  I work at an animal shelter and see perfectly healthy cats and kittens be put to sleep every day just to make space for incoming animals.  There is no reason not to fix your pet!

  3. When cats have kittens they produce hormone called prolactine in first few weeks. After that period of time level of prolactine is getting smaller and that trigger cats mood for love :) Usually cats start to looking for lover even three week after they get kittens. You can sterilize your cat when she stops breastfeeding. My advice is that you do so, because there is too many abundant animals... Think about it :)

  4. She is in heat this soon because you still have not been responsible and gotten her spayed.

  5. Because the natural survival rate for kittens is fairly low cats are set up to breed a lot during the summer (more daylight = more time in heat).

Get her spayed asap.  There are entirely too many homeless/dying kittens already and the strain on her body is terrible.  Yes, having kittens is natural, but so is having a short, difficult life. Pets don't need to have babies.

  6. BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT CATS DO!!!

Get your cat SPAYED!  It's bad enough you just killed four cats or kittens at your local shelter by taking homes from them with this last litter.  How many more do you really want to kill????

And FYI - those kittens born on July 1st can be sexually mature and able to breed at four months - by Nov 1st.  So get them spayed and neutered ASAP.  They can be fixed as early as eight weeks old so they're ready to be done NOW.
