Question:

Why is the national speed limit not being reduced?

Some speed limits are as high as 70 MPH in many rural areas such as West Virginia and in places in the mid-west. Most of us are paying $4.00 per gallon and we hear on the news almost every day how we are in such an energy crunch. So why are the speed limits not being reduced? Why are people still speeding down the road? (Remember those fuel economy ratings for your car are based at 55mph (always has been)... not 70mph. So if you think your car is getting 30 mph at 70 MPH think again.

  1. Because its too slow already duh

  2. The federal government was actually forcing the state to RAISE the speed limit or lose hwy funding.

So the states do NOT have a choice.  It has to come from the FEDs.

    Good Luck....

  3. I think it should be done. I'm already not going above 60, and I feel like I'm going to be killed anytiime I'm on the HWY. It's scary going that slow. Everyone else is going 75+ in a 60mph zone!
