  2. What "Angry Cat" said.

Cold War Animosity still runs deep here.

  3. South Osetia is part of Georgia

  4. Russia has been provoking Georgia through their South Ossetian goons for months now.  The Ossetians fired the first artillery across the fake border between the Ossetian part of Georgia and the Georgian part.

The Russians provoked this.  Georgia couldn't sit there and allow those constant provocations.  NATO dropped the ball by not accepting Georgia's application for membership.

  5. Because it's a Western tradition to call Russia "aggressor" no matter what happens.

  6. Well, Georgia OWNS Osetia, it is their territory...But yeah, it's a European/American thing to blame Russia all the time, but what right does Russia have to carpet bomb Georgian ports?

  7. The U.S will probably enter this and want support of the ppl

    its propaganda

  8. The news in America is not lying, but rather beginning the story at a point where they see convenient.  Euronews is documenting this much more objectively as well as providing background info.

Clearly, the US has been trying to make Russia seem like the big bad wolf.  You would think with China and Oil Emirs buying up all American companies, not to mention wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and a probable move against Iran, that what Russia wants to do with 2 break away republics in the Caucusus would be the least of our concerns.

Those who believe Georgia should be defended should volunteer to go peacekeep in South Ossetia in favor of keeping the lands Georgian.  If not, then they can continue to scream not fair.  Sadly, this was in the making and Saakashvili committed a terrible blunder and walked into a trap.  Russia needed a casus belli and the imbicile gave it to them.

Russia is no saint, but if the break away republics want to be independent and friendly to Russia what business is it of the west.  Thankfully NATO did not sign a treaty with Georgia yet or it would have faced looking foolish now by inaction.

Might makes right here...and Russia, no matter what our American news says, holds all the cards here.
