9 is a very highly esteemed number in the East. This is because it's the highest single digit number, and it's the product of 3x3, and 3 is a very symbolic number. In Chinese, 3 is written as three horizontal lines, one above the other. The top line represents Heaven, the middle, Mortals, and the lowest, Earth. It's considered to be a perfect number.
