  1. Well, my best guess would be is the lack of high quality components. Olevia is mediocre at best in regards to quality. They probably do not use some of the High end components that brands like Sony, Sharp and Samsung use. So instead of let's say using a power supply that might cost them $200 and weigh 10 lbs, they buy the one for $75 that weighs 40 lbs. 134 lbs is really pushing it, and while you might still find some mounts out there that support  a TV of this weight, personally, I would not risk it. My 52" Sony LCD weights are meer 82 lbs.

  2. It is NOT 2.5 times heavier than other 50" HDTVs! My 50" Panasonic plasma is over 90 lbs., without stand. That being said, Olevia makes junk TVs. http://www.hdguru.com/your-new-disposabl... Get a Panasonic, if you want a reliable, quality large screen plasma.

I'd like to see a brand and model number on a 52" 'flatscreen' that weighs around 53 lbs.! And, yes, you can mount 134 lbs. on your wall, safely, IF DONE CORRECTLY.
