  1. The patterns of rainfall is very important to the ppl of Africa because 40% of the land is desert and its very hot there. Temperature can rise up to 130F and the area gets dry in a short period of time meaning the water disappears. Also rain is "life" without water there is no life.

  2. Rain is scarce in much of Africa.  Africans rely on rainfall at certain times because they grow crops that need water during certain stages of development.

For instance, cotton needs rain early in the season and very little late in the season.  Late rain can ruin their crop. They also lack modern irrigation systems.  Other water uses such as drinking water can run out on them.  This makes it very important they get some rainfall at regular intervals.
