  1. It is not really band as much as just not accepted by doctors.  It is really the same as faith healing, anyone can still do it, you just can't  make any medical claims that it works.  You can still find radio or frequency devices on the internet.  I just built a device that triggers alpha and other brain waves with flashing lights and sound and I have to admit that it works. Everyone that has used it are amazed at what they experience.  Check out "Make: Magazine", they have that kind of stuff in it from time to time.

The idea of pushing radio waves in to your body is not a good idea unless you know what your doing.  And even then I wouldn't do it.  Anything over a few milliwatts  at some frequencies can do damage to your body, can f**k up your DNA, and may be linked to some forms of cancer.

The FCC and ARRL have set maximum exposure levels for radio operators and service techs.  But they also say the best exposure level is 0.

  2. Perhaps it's due to the simple fact that the "signals" emitted can cause problems with surrounding signals in the areas(locations) they are used in.  Not enough is known about the effects of those emissions on the general public yet.  It's only illegal to advertise it.  Many chiropractic offices offer this "service".

  3. I didn't know it was illegal...Surely you mean just for drs. etc...because I'm sure a lot of people do it.

For the benefit of those who don't know exactly what it is..

  4. Well, perhaps it isn't the practice but the claiming of Radionics heals is what is illegal.

While there might be many subtle energies which there are multiple strategies to attempt to harness and are legal to use.   The practice needs to have scientific studies done that show that the practice heals rather than hurts.

Otherwise it is just a shot in the dark and no one knows with any certainty if a practice heals or harms.

  5. As with many other alternative medicine modalities (i.e. Reiki, acupuncture, chiropractic, homeopathy, Chinese medicine, reflexology, etc.), supporters of radionics have been unable to provide any sort of evidence that their method of healing actually heals.  For that reason, they are not allowed to make any claims regarding the efficacy of their treatment.

This section on the Wiki page is pretty funny:

  6. Because it is ridiculous.
