Not concerned with neuroscience and is purely subjective. It brings me to the question ''is psychiatry a pseudoscience''.

  1. Well I think it should be classed as a

    neuro-bio-pseudo science.

Neuro because the psychiatric problem  can be neurologically related, Bio as it can be chemically related and pseudo  speaks for itself.

  2. have you heard of a dictionary?

    are u boring or what!?

please refer to your local library

  3. I can think of three major reasons why psychiatry relies on behavioral criteria (including subjective self-reporting) for diagnosis:

    1) We don't know the neurobiological correlates of some mental disorders, at least not well enough to distinguish them with just an fMRI.

    2) Behavioral diagnosis is more efficient in most cases.  It takes much less time to see that a person meets the criteria for autism than it does to record an EEG and analyze it for correlates of autism.

    3) Self-reported background information can distinguish between disorders that otherwise look similar.  An fMRI can show that a patient has signs of acute depression, but that doesn't mean that the diagnosis should be primary depression.  It could be a depressive phase of Bipolar I or Bipolar II, or it could be secondary to an anxiety disorder like GAD or PTSD.  Behavioral diagnostic criteria can make those distinctions.

I do more neuroscience than psychology, so I share your desire to see neuroscience principles in clinical applications.  And we do see neuroscience all over the place in the treatment of mental disorders.  But it's not usually required for diagnosis.

  4. acutally it very much is concerned with neuroscience...not a pseudoscience at all.

  5. Usually visiting your therapist, they can make an assesment of your case.
