  1. Presumably because you live outwith the UK as British bikes have the front brake on the right.

In countries where you drive on the right hand side of the road it's on the right and vice versa where you drive on the left.  This is so you can make the hand signal for a turn across oncoming traffic - the most dangerous turn - and use the rear brake at the same time.  For me in Australia, I can slow down and signal to turn right, moving from the left hand edge of the road to be in front of the cars on my side of the road and then crossing the path of the oncoming traffic, all while braking with the rear brake.  The rear brake is safer than the front brake if it's raining or slippery.

  3. why is the gas pedal in a car on the rightside? why is the throttle on a motorcycle on the rightside?etc, etc. I'm not being a smarta$$, but most people are right handed and the rear brake is predominately used so most things are set-up this way to accomadate the majority of the population.

  4. Thats in the US in england it on the left.
