  1. Because the co2 acts as a blanket to trap the heat in.  When light leaves the sun, specifically in the infrared spectrum,  it enters our atmosphere and hits the ground.  The ground absorbs this energy and then radiates it back out as heat.  Light can pass by CO2 but heat connot so it gets trapped.  The more Co2, the more trapped heat.  GO SOX! Hope Big Papi's wrist is ok or we're bummin in the post season!

  2. It is not bad for the environment.

Please review the links I provided below.

  3. because the warming of earth in this way will have consequences , like a Minnie ice age can very well happen

if the oceans get to warm  many bad things will happen to all living things on our world.

  4. It's never been satisfactorily proven that it is bad for the environment.  The fact of the matter is that carbon dioxide contributes far less to any of the erroneously named "greenhouse effect" than does water vapor, and of that, only a small portion of the CO2 expelled into the atmosphere is the result of human activity.

Be wary of the global warming propaganda.  There is a huge amount of money to be made through taxpayer financed boondoggles, cap-and-trade schemes and lawsuits related to the dreaded carbon emissions.  But most of all, beware of governments who will use this as an excuse to take more power and more of your money.  Today congress is beginning debate on global warming legislation which would, among other things, raise gasoline taxes by 53 cents a gallon - as if we weren't paying enough at the pump already.  It would also put enormous restrictions on energy production and industry of every kind - meaning we would all be forced to pay more for just about everything we do or buy.  And for what?  What benefit do we really get?  The Chinese and the Indians will continue to burn fossil fuels willy-nilly free of restrictions, and the only real change would be that we can no longer compete with them in the global economy.  If you think outsourcing is bad now...

If you want to know the real reason the earth gets hotter and colder over the millenia, look at the sun  - and please, I mean that figuratively.  The sun experiences cycles of higher and lower output.  This is but one of millions of factors which influence our climate, though doubtless the most important.  It is also one of the countless factors which is neglected in the simplified and unreliable climate models which are used to predict the future effects of anthropogenic global warming.  It is necessary for climatologists to neglect factors like solar variability because scientists don't fully understand it yet.  They can no more predict the sun's output year by year than they can next week's lottery numbers.  Similarly, they can no more predict the global temperature a hundred years from now than they can the temperature next week.  They're just making an educated guess based on statistics.  And they're usually off by a lot.

Case and point, the Leibniz Institute of Marine Science recently suggested that global warming will be on hold for the next decade as natural cooling factors will offset the man-made warming factors.  Indeed, global mean temperature, if such a thing can even be defined, has fluctuated independently and not in proportion with the increases in atmospheric CO2 concentration over the last century - such as during the "little ice age" in the latter half of the 20th century.  Remember the predictions of global cooling?  If the climate models are to be believed, we should have seen continued warming as CO2 concentrations increased.  But that's not what actually happened.  In short, climatologists actually understand very little of what's going on and cannot accurately predict climate change.  And the earth will continue to heat and cool regardless of what humans do until the sun explodes.

It seems like you may be tasked with writing a paper on this.  My advice is to be bold and go against the herd.  Write about how global warming-cooling-whatever can not be proven to be influenced by human activity to any non-negligible degree.  Your thesis can be that while it is possible that man is indeed warming the planet, because of the faults that can be found in the current climate science, it's just as possible that we've got nothing to do with it, and that for all we know the planet could be about to cool big-time.  We really don't know, though some people claim to know.  But those people are charlatans.  Like Al Gore.  They're accepted and praised because climate science has been hijacked and made political.  It's not about qualifications, it's about saying the right thing - for proof of this, you need only refer to Al Gore honorary Doctorate in climate science from Concordia.  For what?  Making a slideshow?

  5. Since the advent of the Industrial Revolution, mankind has been pumping in vast levels of CO2 into the atmosphere, apparently faster than the capacity of the planet to absorb it.  Other factors are at play here, too.

A few sites for you to investigate that I've found to be helpful.
