Why is the ride Rita queen of speed called that at Alton Towers?

i heard a rumour it was after the 1millionth customer but surely by the time it was invented they had had tens of millions of customers!!!

  1. Yeah, it's from "Alton Towers Intamin Rocket".

    Intamin is the design/manufacture company which created Rita. The 'rocket' part is pretty obvious, but it's because the type of ride is sometimes called a Rocket Coaster (has a hydraulic launch system).


  2. The name "Rita" is a backwards acronym of "Alton Towers Intamin Rocket
