Question:

Why is the ride on the Eurostar smoother in France than in the UK, despite the new line?

When I ride on the Eurostar this side of the channel the ride seems harsher and it has been much slower than in France. What is the reason, especially as the line in England is brand new?

  1. The reason is because the French are highly advanced when it comes to their railways.  Here in UK we still think of the railway as somehow a left over from the Victorian era - will we ever get it right?  Doubt it - too many chiefs and not enough indians.

I spent a sour day sojourn in the city of my dream, Paris, about a week ago - travelling to and from la belle France by EuroStar.

You ain't seen nothing yet - get a load of this French train at over 300mph - Yahoooo!

. . . .also the Paris Metro all the trains have rubber wheels - here in London we get dragged around to a loud shrieking noise - My end the daws. . . .

  2. Because France they do care more about their clients rather than raising ticket price/ tax in the UK...

Not only Eurostar all other trains in France ride smoother and faster than those in the UK and they all pay less than us..

    Vive La France then !

  3. good track makes for a good ride

better track makes for a better ride

it is just built and maintined to higher standards, new is always nice but if it is new and installed to lower standards, it wont ride the same and you will have to hold on to your drink.

  4. Because France is smoother than the UK.

The British don't know how to manufacture much less lay rail.

  5. I never noticed this, maybe it's rougher terrain in England.
