The equation:

T=2pi(I/IMgh)^1/2 is only valid for small oscillations; why?

Thanks.

  1. The derivation of the pendulum equation (which involves calculus) is based on the approximation that sin(theta) is approximately equal to theta for small values.  (When theta is measured in radians)
