I've been learning about WWII since the 5th grade. It's the same thing every year.

  1. So that they can nail it in your head so that you'll never forget it.

  2. History has a way of repeating itself.  It really is true that studying history really helps us prepare for the future.

WWII is one of the most important events in history.  Not only because it was a war but also the events that lead up to it.  Millions of people lost there lives during this time.  What if, by studying WWII, could prevent something from ever happening again?

Hopefully through the years the teachers are able to focus on different aspects of the war and its consequences and not teach the same over view.

WWII really is fascinating...maybe one day you'll be able to appreciate learning more about it.

  3. Well, you don't say what grade you are in now so it is really difficult to fully answer your question.  Also, I could never answer for your teachers or school system.

I know as a 9th grade Humanities teacher (a History and English class combined) we cover WWII.  It is my hope however, that we are covering it in a way that a 5th grade teacher would never do because of appropriateness.  Also, we (my teaching partner and I) go more in depth with critical thinking skills.  We don't just teach what happened, we try to have the students think of the whys and hows (Why would thousands of people follow Hitler? How could Hitler start the systematic execution of the Jews without the world taking notice?)  Finally, we cover it from a world perspective.  The next year students cover it from a US perspective.

So... again, I can't answer for your teachers, but that my deal.  Hey, I have a question for you.  Why don't you ask your teachers?

  4. cause WW2 is awesome the soviets suck and so does Stalin

  5. because history doesn't change

  6. I agree it should move along much faster than it does. So much of it is c**p we don't need to know unless we are looking for a History teacher job. I truly believe the present school curriculum is a waste of time.
