  1. because of:

Lots more light penetrating into the water in sunnier climates

    Less pollution

    Less algae

Sandy sea beds reflecting lots of light

  2. Britain's water is dark blue?   Looked more muddy to me.   The carribean water has just crossed the Atlantic and all the silt has been taken out by plants or settled to the bottom.   In Britain silt is being added from the rivers and stirring up of the shallow sea bottom due to ship traffic and wave action.

  3. The under the sea currents stirring up dirt from the bottom.

  4. the sea current ,the sea temperature, the color and grit of the sand in the area, the way that sewer is put out into the sea.

  5. You tend to thinkof the tropics as fertile places, where everything grows well. Actually, the opposite is true in many regards. Tropical seas are relatively poor in life. It is the plankton that lives in temperate waters that gives the water its gray-green color. Tropical seas lack the plankton and reflect the color of the sky.
