Considered cheap shops for 'Tramps' or poor people, when its probs just as cheap or even cheaper to shop at places like Asda.

  1. Aldi and places like it are cheaper because they don't stock brand named foods or very few brand named foods unlike places like tesco or sainsbury. Aldi stock foreign names which arn't known in the uk or usa. this is what makes them cheaper, they are very much the same products but without the heinz or kellogs brand name. that is why they are seen as a cheaper supermarket, in todays society everything is about the brand, people want the brand names because there fashionable. shops that dont sell brand named food are seen as i guess unfationable for that sole reason. And also because of where these shops are placed, there are a few around the city i live and there all situated in places which are seen as the lower end of the city. i have never seen a tesco situated in the midlle of a run down council estate where you are more likely to see a lidl or aldi!

  2. It's partly because they are considered to be cheap but in reality they are not that cheap anyway.

Admittedly Farm foods do stock a large amount of 'junk food' that would disgust the more discernable palate but really there isn't much stock or regular lines to choose from unlike the larger supermarkets and they also leave you to do your own packing in every sense of the word! That bit doesn't please the better off!

  3. I think its because they are very obviously foreign (in the case of aldi and lidl.) although asda belongs to walmart which is an american company.

    I dunno really :S

  4. I don't go to Farmfoods - I think they only do frozen food??? Maybe wrong!!

However, Aldi is amazing!! Proper choices of continental hams, sausages, cheeses, beers, wines, great bread selection........ brilliant!! Only discovered the shop about 6 months ago...... now we go there probably every other week to stock up!! Much much much better for the mentioned than Morrisons, Somerfield etc etc

Asda is over-rated and Somerfield is laughable!!

  5. cheap  Aldis food is superior to Asdas  I didnt realise that I was a "TRAMP" thanks for letting me know and as for farmfoods all they sell is processed stuff so I wouldnt shop there anyway
