Why is the skin around my guinea pigs eye pinkish/red?

any suggestions? anything i can do before i take him to the vet?

  1. The skin around the eye IS supposed to be pinkishly red!


  2. Take him to the vet. He probably has an eye infection.

  3. You really can't do anything at this point. Your guinea pig is suffering from and infected eye or something could be stuck in it. Make an appointment today and take him/her to the vet quickly. The vet will be able to treat it's eye and your piggie will get better in no time =D

  4. What kind of bedding are you using? Pine bedding is not good for them. Is there any kind of discharge? It could be as simple as something in the cage irritating his eyes to something as serious as an eye infection or upper respitory.
