  1. its the way the light is broken up in our atmosphere....it just shows blue...and at night it can show red or pink or purple.

  2. f42 is correct, the colour of the sky has no effect on the colour of the sea and vice a versa- its just a myth. the sky is blue because of the way in which light waves are affected by oxygen and nitrogen in our atmosphere.

imagine if this mix of gases we call air was not transparent!! imagine how would we have evolved to sense our surroundings?

  4. the sky is really red or some colour from the sun but it's blue because of oxygen is the atmosphere also water is a reflection of the sky - water has no colour

  5. The Earth is covered with atmosphere. There are many aubatance inside the air(e.g. ash,water...).you can see the sunlight is in white or sharp.Actually,it is formed by the light of red ,orange, yellow, green, blue, deep blue,purple...When the sunlight passes through the air,the longest wavelength of the light of red has the greatest transmission(the following is orange and yellow).it can shine to the floor by the substance inside the air.and the shorter wavelength of the light of blue, deep blue, purple can easily separated by the substance inside the air.so the sky is blue.

  6. The atmosphere is mostly made of Nitrogen. Sunlight is all different wavelengths of light (all different colours), but the nitrogen causes all the light to spread out. As high energy (ie blue) light spreads out much more, the sky appears a blue colour.

This is why you can sometimes see a red sky at sunrise or sunset, because the blue light spreads outwards more, leaving the lower energy red light close to the Sun.

This also causes the sky to be full of light. If you look out a window in the daytime, there will be light coming from it, even if the Sun is on the other side of the building!

  7. i've heard two things.. either it's the reflection of the sky or something to do with particles in the light spectrum or something lol, that wasn't much help sorry!

  8. Most of the molecules in the atmosphere tend to diffract the short-wave (ie tending to blue) radiation from the sun.  That means that the short-wave radiation gets bounced all around the sky before coming to you, but the long-wave (red-end of spectrum) comes more directly.

  9. It has to do with how easily a colour is reflected and scattered from another surface. Since blue is easily reflected and disperses easily, it makes the sky look blue.

That is also why the sunrise/sunset looks red because since the light must travel longer to reach your eye all of the blue light has already been deflected and instead of blue, becomes red

Hope that this answers your question

  10. It isn't.

    It's called PANTONE 14-4318.

  11. it has somthing to do with light waves from the sun.

  12. it is blue because of a very simple phenomina called colour.. i mean if it was grey you would complain about the weather wouldnt ya

  13. All i know is that the sky is blue because of the ocean. Theres probally other things to [like you see in the other answers] But yeah reflection of the ocean.
