Why is the social problems amongst teenagers increasing?

Who should be responsible? As a teenager, should you take actions against it or support it? Can social problems effects the nation's growth?

This is happening because of the break down in family cohesion and communication.  I have a teen age daughter and I make an effort to learn to speak her language and see things from her perspective. It's difficult at times but it keeps us on the same track.. Adults need to encourage teens to talk.to them.  And, teens need to talk.  We need to have a meeting table where we can share our concerns and work on ways to fix them together..

I say the responsibility lies with family, commumity, and teenagers.

The media doen't seem to do a very good job of putting parents in a positive light.

  

I think children at no matter what age should be encouraged to be involved with whatever kind of social issues concern them.

To me it seems as thoough many teens don't feel as tho they are heard.

I think parents play a big part of this.  Its hard for parents because I think if they are not involved enough in their teens life or if the are "too" involved it can push the teen in the wrong direction.  I also dont think that television, music, games, etc help.  There is so much talk about drinking and drugs and s*x at an early age it basically shows teens that its ok and its the cool thing to do.

Parents who are too busy to pay attention to why their teens are doing. And it seems parents today let their teens get away with anything. I'm scared for our country's future.

I agree with Sessa that parents are part of the problem. Frequently I see people doing things that I know my mother never would have let me even think about doing. Kids do a lot of reckless, immature, and outright stupid things and don't feel any of the repercussions of their actions. Either because parents won't deliver a punishment or, even worse, parents feel that their perfect little angel can do no wrong and yell at any other adult who tries to set their child in place.

Parents aren't the only problem though. I've been utterly shocked by the immaturity of some of my high school classmates. A lot of them don't even understand what the normal boundaries of behavior should be, they don't respect adults, and they have no sense of foresight or consequence. You'd think that some kids, even with parents who aren't paying as much attention as they should, would see the light and realize how stupid they are acting and how to behave properly.
