I live in TN and when I go to the mountains the soil everywhere is nothing but sand. It looks just like Florida soil. Why?!?

  1. It's likely due to the lithological make up the mountains where you live. It's probable that the rock at the top the mountains is a sandstone which has been weathered and become loose sand.

  2. Any soil type sediment in the hill tops has been washed away by rain and carried into the valley.
