this new digital camera will also be able to record 720p hd video. you can expand the memory with a memory card, but no matter what video clips are limited to 10 mins in length, you can have many 10 min. clips, but you cant record the same shot for more than 10 mins! why does sony do this? you can have 3 10 minutes clips, but not 1 30 mins clip!!!! makes no sense to me, unless i am missing something

  1. It may be an issue with the sensor (overheating which may cause artifacts to appear and/or potential sensor damage) or it may be some corperate move (Sony does promote and sell a range of high definition digital camcorders). There can be a number of other motives too (large files may be hard to manage for the consumer demographic, for example) but at least now you can sleep knowing that there's some reason behind Sony's decision.

  2. Next time you watch a professional movie check out the length of the shots. They're rarely longer than a few seconds and if they're any longer, they soon become boring and tedious. I can understand why some people would want to record things like plays and sporting events for more than 10 minutes but the biggest mistake most amateur videographers make is their clips are far too long rather than being too short so I think Sony is trying to protect us from ourselves with its 10 minute time limit. Of course, you could always say I want to make that decision myself and I can't argue with that.
