Why is the sound distorted when i try to watch stuff i've recorded off the tv?

I have a Storex club mpix-355 750GB hard drive, but when i try to watch stuff recorded off the tv using my Archos 705 wifi the sound is totally distorted, can anyone tell me why and can i do anything about it?

Sounds as though the sampling rate might need adjustment. Look at your manuals.
