  1. This is how rock is recycled or recrystallized.  It is important because it helps us to understand more about plate tectonics. We learned that subduction is where the morphose stage happens.  it is also important to know because we learn how certain rocks become what they are.  We would not know how to categorize rocks like schist or eclogite if we did not know how they became.  It is the one cycle that all three types of rocks can undergo.  Metamorphic, Igneous, and sedimentary can all undergo the metamorphic stage.
