Why is the style to wear jeans half way down the butt?

But I'm stumped. I've never understood it. It's like those ridiculous out of control fashions where dresses got so big and complicated that it took three hours to get dressed and once they were they couldn't sit down. Jeans got baggier and baggier until they were down around their ankles. It used to be pantsing was something that you would do to someone else.

It isnt, really.  Now it is just gangsta style or emo skinny jean kids that do that. The rest of the crowd grew out of that rediculous trend.

The style evolved when teens starting trying to emulate people who are in jail.  Because they are not allowed to wear belts in jail, their pants fall down.  Hence, the fashion for low strung pants evolved!
