Why is the term "prop forward" used? isnt it a bit redundant. im yet to find a "prop back".

Why is the term "prop forward" used? isnt it a bit redundant. im yet to find a "prop back".

  1. heck, I have never heard anybody use that term before!!  I'm not sure if thats because we don't use it in NZ, or if it has become redundant, making your question reduntant too!! I guess the people who still use that term have been using it for so long that they can't help themselves or something?


  2. well a prop forward is a forward who props at the  front of the scrum since there are no backs in a scrum of course you are not going to find a prop back

  3. its more commonly know as lose head prop and tight head prop, the tight head is on the same side of the scrum half in a scrum

  4. Lean forward and prop up.

  5. Well they also call a second rower a lock forward and the loosies are called loose forwards.

    But yes maybe it is a little redundant. Which is why pretty much everyone just calls them props, locks and loosies.
