Why is the time wrong when I take a picture with my Nikon Coolpix L18..?

I set it to the right time zone since I live in Michigan and it's the EST (EDT) time zone... but every time I take a picture it'll say the opposite time such as I take a picture at 8.21 PM and the camera will record it at 8.21 AM.... How do I fix this?

Reset the time.  Go into the menu, and then go forward or back 12 hours until it matches the correct date and time.  Your manual will tell you how.
