Why is the uk national anathem about the queen......when she doesnt even do anything for the country.....?

She is the Figure Head of England she has powers. But most of them thru the years have gone to other people. So she works less and gets paid far less.

These comments about the Queen are just plain insulting. The Queen also pays tax.

And I don't see why you say she burns taxes and does nothing for the country. Both statements are just plain wrong. She is more respected and loved worldwide than any of politicians. And all of the major royals are great ambassadors for this country.

Erm....It isn't about the Queen, it was still the same when we had a King, they just change the gender reference regarding the current monarch, ie; God save our gracious King etc etc.....Incidentally, as a Scot, I feel the need to point out that they dropped the 5th verse of the national anthem which began "God bless our Marshall Wade, Rebellious Scots to crush etc etc, to the same tune. The UK national anthem was written at a time when it was legal to kill any Scot in England up until the years after the Jacobite rebellions in 1745-46, where the Scottish people felt the need to rebel against the ethnic cleansing/genocidal policies that the English practiced on the Scots, and the fact that the English had decided that they wanted to be ruled by the German/Danish Royal line that still prevails to this day, and not the legitimate Stuart Royal House, think on Elizabeth the First had Mary Queen of Scots executed because she was the real Queen of Scotland and England. At the start of World War 1, the ruling house of both Germany and the UK, was the House of Saxe-Coburg, and this worried them, so they called themselves The House of Windsor...And you're right, they are completely useless and are corrupt parasites, I hate the whole idea of the brutal, corrupt, nasty politics that created Great Britain.

I'd prefer to have a national anthem about a long-standing institution like the monarchy than a mouldy old piece of cloth (flag) like the americans have.  I mean the french national anthem goes on about the blood of children and all the terror of the french revolution.  Again, I prefer ours.  The australian one is pretty good - it goes on about how great australia is , but honestly, can you ever see british people doing that??  All british people can do is what you've just done - put our country and institutions down.  If we had to think up of a new national anthem I bet it would go something along the lines of

"We're so c**p, we never win at anything, we feel eternal shame for the empire and will never forgive ourselves for ever having been successful.  Our weather's c**p and I'm leaving asap".

Given the options, I'll take our current national anthem any day.
