  1. For a sine wave voltage, the reactance gives the ratio between the voltage and current amplitudes.  So the units are volts/amps, which is equivalent to ohms.


  2. In AC circuit theory we analyse the effects of various components connected in series or parallel or series/parallel combinations.  

    The basic variables are the voltage measured in Volts (the force that pushes electrons around the circuit) The current measured in Amps (the actual number of electrons moving around the circuit) and The impedance of the circuit measured in ohms (the opposition to current flow) Impedance is made up of 2 components Resistance and Reactance and both must be measured in ohms to be compatible.
