Why is the us mail so slow?

with all of the technology today .why does it take so long to get something in the mail?why does the mail still get lost? i have had better luck getting my things from ups,fedex,dhl ,then i do from the usps.WHY IS THIS?

  1. Who knows.  You'd think they would have thought up a better system by now, but honestly, with all the JUNK mail that goes through the system, it takes away from the REAL mail!!


  2. depends on where you are. Here in my middle of nowhere the usps takes 2-3 days for a first class from maryland. Ups ground is 10 days, Fed ex ground is 4-5 days and dhl ground is anywhere from 2-7.

    you have many options available to you, express mail, priority mail etc. Parcel post will always be slow due to the service is subcontracted out by the post office.

  3. Because it it overseen by the stupidest govt in the world.

  4. human & technological error and the sheer volume of mail result in some error but not much.  of course UPS etc are faster, they're supposed to be and you pay more for it.  if USPS offered this level of service -- pickups, their own fleets, etc, we'd have even more of a federal deficit unless users paid for it.
