Hi, I am a 25 year old female who, for the most part, is pretty healthy (aside from IBS and panic disorder). On Saturday, I noticed a throbbing sensation in my leg, just above my knee. I looked down and could actually SEE my vein throbbing every 3 seconds. I figured it could possible be a muscle spasm (although I hadn't done any strenous physical activity), and thought it'd go away once I walked around. It did for a while. Until 4am this morning (Monday), when it started again and kept me from sleep. It is now Monday at 3:20 PM, and the throbbing has been continous throughout the whole day. The only things the internet tells of is vericose veins. I am not a doctor, but I think I am pretty young for this, and there is no visible discoloration. But, I'm not sure if that's always necessary. But, as a hypochondriac, I did read about possible blood clots being in the veins, and, if they break loose, they could travel into the lungs, causing pulmonary embolism.
I hate to be a hypo and think THAT'S a possibility, but I think it may be. On the same hand, it's only something that has been occuring for three days now, so I'm not sure if it could be a temporary throbbing.
It's just becommming incredibly annoying and uncomfortable and even as I type this, it is happening. I get health insurance beginning tomorrow. Is there any test a doctor can run? Are these the symptoms of varicose veins or blood clots? What can I do to cease the throbbing, if anything? I appreciate your help. :)
