  1. Probably of the p**p by your fishes or too much algae is growing in your fish tank.

  2. Do you have it near a window? Sunlight will make algae grow super fast. And do you mean the water it literallly turning green, or just algae is growing? If you already don't have one, get a Mag-Float magnet cleaner. They're very helpful with algae. Also, if you want get 1 or 2 small algae eaters (depending on your tank size). There is also something Tetra makes called (I believe) Algae Control. You just add it like you add aquasafe to tap water (like 1 or 2 drops/gallon?). I don't have a bad algae problem but just use it as a precaution. Hope that helps!

  3. well if you have that and its still green by a filter for it and one of those automatic cleaners

  4. It's growing algae.  If it's by a window, move it.  Get a filter.  Get some algae eating fish.

  5. you need to clean it

    and also......

have u put special drops in?

have u washed all the rocks at the bottom 3 times each bag??

if not i think u should start NOW!

  6. Do you have the tank anywhere near a window? Sunlight will make the algae grow faster than you can get rid of it.

If not, I would take a sample of the water to a pet store and have them check it. They will be able to tell you what to do.

  7. Get a UV filter and you will never have this problem again.  Not only does it kill algae but all sorts of other harmful microorganisms.

Sounds like your leaving the light on all the time though.

  8. To warm, algea breeds in warm water. Get some 'algea destryoer' at petco and no more cleaning. You are killing the good bacteria.  Leave the tank alone and turn down the heater to 76 and keep away from windows. It may take 10 days to clear up

  9. Your heater is proably extra high. Get a algae magnet and clean the glass and turn the temp down.

  10. It is either getting too much sunlight or you leave the light on too much.

They should get 8-10 hours of light a day.

Adding lots of live plants to your tank with help keep algae away by sucking up more nutrients than the algae can

  11. Rather simple..

U have live plants in it?

    Usually live plants cause this.

There is some kind of liquid that sells at LFS...

It will clear the water from the GREEN GREEN effect..

  12. do you have a good filter?? mine always used to do that until i got a really good fountain filter thing oh and i got a sucker fish!!

  13. If the water itself is turning green the tank is probably getting too much light. Try shading it from natural light (Windows) or turn the lights on for less each day.

I had a tank on my kitchen bench, beside a window. It was fine for six months, untill the summer sunshine. Then the water went so green you could only see the fish when they put their nose on the glass. Had to move the tank and it's fine now.
