  1. Mindanao is much closer to the Equator because it is farther south. Also, typhoon paths rarely cross Mindanao.

  2. This is simple.

Luzon is a larger island of the Philippines and you will have record temperatures coming off of that island for that general reason.

The simple logic is that land heats quicker than water, and cools slower than water. Therefore that is why you will have warmer daytime temperatures and cooler night time temps in Luzon.

Mindanao is a conglomeration of islands that and the percentage of water outweighs the percentage of land in that area. Therefore the water will keep the temperature of the islands warm in both the day and the night, and will keep the extreme temperatures that Luzon experiences at bay.

The other users are correct in the notion that the equitorial location of these islands will make it warmer, however the sea will have a larger impact due to those positions being only minutely different.

I hope I have helped in some way.

  3. i doubt it...

hottest recorded temperature in the philippines came from luzon...

  4. probably because you are farther south in Mindanao and I believe there is generally more cloud cover in Luzon.
