  1. It's so drivers can read what it says in their rear view mirror if the ambulance is coming up behind them

  2. so you can read it in a rearview mirror

  3. To confuse simple people.

  4. So it can be seen in your rear mirror fire and police are the same

  5. so you can see it in your rear view mirror the right way.

  6. I thought they were called Ecnalubma's! :-)

  7. maybe there are dyslexic sign painters....

maybe it's a clue from the DaVinci Code...

  8. Only to make blondes to ask questions.

  9. So it appears correctly when you look in your rearview mirror.

  10. it reads the correct way when you see it in the rear view mirror.. in case the loud blaring sirens and lights dont get your attention i guess :)

  11. So when you see this speeding white truck barreling at you in your rear-view mirror you have another hint that it is an AMBULANCE and to get the heck out of the way before someone dies!!

  12. So that it appears the right way round when you see it in the rear view mirror.  =)

  13. It appears as 'AMBULANCE' in a car's wing or rear view mirror.

  14. So when you are driving you can read it in your rear view mirror when it's behind you.

  15. it is the same with fire engines..next time one comes up behind you sirens blaring look in the rear view mirror and you will get your answer...its so you can read it the right way round whilst looking in the mirror. not really clever because the sirens sort of give the game away...chuckle

  16. so you can see it clearly in your mirror

  17. for the answere look in your mirror......        .............

  18. its done that way so that you can read it when looking in your rear view mirror in your car.

  19. So that when you're driving and look in your rear view mirror, the word 'ambulance' appears the right way around.

  20. As 'The Human Being' says so that it can be read in your rear view mirror, same as 'ECILOP'  and 'ERIF'

Of course, if you were in Wales it would say 'AMBWILANS' or rather 'SNALIWBMA'

  21. so that the word appears normal when looked at by a driver's rear view mirror.

  22. so when drivers infront oof the ambulance look in their mirrors they see the word ambulance the right way round. and move out the way.

  23. So that you can read in through your rear-view mirror.....

  24. The word "Ambulance" is painted in reverse so you can see it when you look out of your rear view mirror. Some drivers don't hear the sirens or pay attention to the flashing lights, but when you see that big word in your mirror...you know it's time to MOVE! Good question...

  25. What part of the planet Zog have you been to ?

  26. It isn't.

It is actually written in "mirror writing", so you can read it clearly when looking in your rear view mirror or side mirrors.

'AMBULANCE' in reverse is 'ECNALUBMA'.  That is not how it appears on the front of an ambulance (trust me - take a close look next time you see one...)

  27. so the car infront of the ambulance can see what is behind them if the person driving couldnt hear.  like the radio is too loud.  so in the review mirror is looks correct

  28. So the car in front can read it on the rear view mirror

  29. Twisted is the only person with the correct answer so far, give him the 10 pts....its NOT in reverse, it's in the correct order with each letter reversed individually so it appears as AMBULANCE in your mirror. Well done that man....probably won't get the recognition he deserves because his answer is so far down the list!!

  30. They have to find Jobs for dyslexicts somehow............

  31. So drivers can see it in their rear view mirror : )
