When a population of animals in nature outstrips its food source, that population declines until it's again in balance with its food source.
Humans, however, have a food source that is constantly raising. As a result, though we still have famine all over the world, we're becoming amazingly, and horribly, overpopulated. 'Every increase in food production to feed an increased population is answered by another increase in population'. When we have excess in Arizona of food, that doesn't mean the AZ population is going to grow...but some population somewhere will inevitably grow. Basically, First World farmers are fueling the Third World growth population.
So, what do we do? Our world is becoming overpopulated and the humans have completely messed up the balance. We don't let nature curb the human race. We keep growing more food to cure a famine that won't be cured. Preaching "birth control" as a viable solution to curb growth obviously isn't working-- in fact, some groups oppose its use!
