Why is there a Global Warming section on Yahoo answers?

There isn't a bigfoot section or a unicorn section.

Just because many ignorant people have been tricked into believing a myth doesn't make it fact.

  1. So that some of the narrow minded people out there that really think that with all the emissions and pollutants we pump into the atmosphere does no harm.  Having a category like this allows them to come up with all the excuses as to why not do something better for this planet.  They brag about how doing nothing is right.

  2. The difference is that many people believe in global warming and almost nobody believes in bigfoot etc.  I think global warming is a hoax, but those who do not have a right to their opinion.  I wouldn't rush and call an AWG believer ignorant, there are plenty of skeptics who are idiots and many believers who put together very good arguments.  I have not seen anything here that would change my mind, but I have gained a better understanding of those who do believe in AWG.

  3. Possibly because it is a scientific theory supported by a range of related science disciplines and the nonsense put around by oil related groups like the Heartland Institute & the Oregon Institute these days only seem to be fooling a few on groups like this. You can believe their BS about lack of scientific support or go to "ANY" of the official sites of any of the major scientific groups or Universities.

I like "waterboardin" poll figures, I'm into fiction backed up by no links, why do people bother to post mis-information when it is so easy to find the facts using Google.

  4. It's so the AGW zealots won't harrass people in the other political, social, and scientific sections of this website...kind of like when Bush's people designated a specific section of town for protestors when he was making a visit (several blocks away).

  5. So the people who aren't bored out of their GOURDS with inane questions repeated and repeated and repeated will have someplace to go where they won't annoy the adults.

  6. Righto!

Thirty years ago 'leading scientists' were convinced of another ice age.

    Check out the link...it's great.

  7. Your Right Its Like A Yahoo Answers Spongebob Section

  8. I totally agree with you. There is no need to have a section for the biggest lie ever told.

  9. It is an issue we are seeing the results of, despite what anyone says. We can see the results of it. Have you not seen the rising sea levels? Go to Old Bar on the Australian Mid-north coast. The widening desert ranges? The droughts? the heatwaves? The enormous and unusually intense storms? The bleaching coral reefs? All of this CO2 and pollution we are releasing into the atmosphere holds heat energy in the atmosphere. It is also absorbed into the sea, making it mildly acidic. We are releasing millions of tonnes of it into the atmosphere every single day. Do you know how much CO2 a typical tree absorbs in its lifetime? 1 tonne. 1 single tonne. Not each day, but in its lifetime. I think it's pretty obvious global warming is an issue, and a factual, proven, observed and researched one at that. That's why there's a Global Warming section on Yahoo answers.

  10. That's been asked before.

The main reason is that it is a very big issue due to a lot of money and propaganda pushing it into the media.

Also it's a political tool which gives it more money and power.

No one has proven it is caused by human activity, so it needs lots of money to influence the masses.

If it were a real scientific issue it wouldn't need all this help to convince people that it is caused by them.

In fact, the number of people who believe in AGW has steadily declined as they become more educated.  The latest polls show less than 40% believe humans cause global warming.  That's down from about 50% a year ago.

So we're getting smarter, but it still takes time.

  11. You're absolutely right. There is NO greenhouse effect. And if there were, it would have nothing to do with CO2. I'm sure of it, just as I'm sure James Inhofe is a freakin' great statesman and a Nobel-winning scientist.

  12. Even if Global Warming is a lie, it is about time we come to our senses and try to clean up our planet for future generations before we are knee deep in trash.

  13. In case you haven't been paying attention- the matter of whether its happening or not has already been discussed, you're a bit late. Its a fact that global warming is occuring, the question now is whether we're impacting it and if we can do anything.

Global warming is so obviously happening and you don't need theories and math and big scientists for that. Just check the global temperature reading averages for the last 50 years, its clearly increasing; hence the term global WARMING.

I wonder who is really ignorant...
