I have a volunteer friend who is dying to know this. He is a senior and doesn't know his way around the internet, which is why I thought I could post this for him. I have not been able to turn up any information through my own research.

  1. Where and on which road leading to glasgow ?

  2. This is very tenuous, as you don't give much detail as to the road you were on, however, it may have something to do with Torphichen Preceptory. It comprises the tower and the two transepts of the church associated with the Preceptory of the Knights Hospitaller of the Order of St John of Jerusalem. The Order maintained just two such establishments in Britain, the other being in London.

It may also have something to do with Lord Torphichen.

In Scotland the Commander of Torphichen, the "Lord of Saint Johns" sat in Parliament until 1563.

The heir of the last commander still sits in Parliament as Lord Torphichen

    Hope this helps.
