Every few days a there is a black residue on the water dispencer in my budgies cage. He seems to be in good health, we live in scotland with soft water, no limescale and we give him the purified water from the filter jug we have.

  1. if ther is a lot of sunlight ie. if he is in the window i would say the best bet would be that it is a build up of algae it doesn't matter if it is purified it will still become stagnant the obvious answer would be to change it at least once a day

  2. It is probably a mold that is growing.  Every few days disinfect the dispenser with a mild solution of bleach and water.  Rinse well.  This is how I clean my personal birds water containers as well as how we clean them at the aviary were I work.  Please read my profile.

  3. just clean it. it's probably mold or mildew.

  4. As "parsons.." says could be an algae or a mould.

Daily cleaning with very hot water may help.

  5. budgie c**p

  6. It is most probably mould or algae so just scrub if every day if it helps you can put it in detergent which sometime protects it longer as it builds up a small sheildy-thing
