Click the link below to see the box score from today's Astros vs Mets game.

1.) Look at the lines for the individual players (AB R H RBI etc). Notice that the last column is LOB (left On Base). Notice how the number of LOB for all Astro players totals 11.

See it?

OK, now..

2.) Look down below in the detail for Hitting etc...You see the total for Team LOB is 6

3.) Why is there a discrepancy between the 2 LOB numbers? It seems like they should be the same, right?

Can someone help me understand this?

Thanks!

Lauren

  1. Because the first number is the total of each players left on base score. The second number was the total after each inning LOB. confusing i guess but i hope i helped.

  2. Holy c**p you picture looks so familiar to me!

  3. lol idk interesting tho

  4. Able and Baker get on base.

Chaplin strikes out. LOB == 2.

Douglas pops out. LOB == 2.

Edwards bunts, gets on when there's no play. Bases loaded.

Franklin grounds out, end of inning. LOB == 3.

Team LOB == 3, even though individual LOB is seven.

Individual "Left On Base" is purely a function of the state of baserunners when a given batter ends his plate appearance by making an out. Team LOB is runners left at the third out per inning.
